503 West Coast Jiu Jitsu will be close Thursday, July 4, and Friday, July 5, in recognition of Independence Day.  Normal classes will resume Saturday, July 6.

Memorial Day Weekend Closure

May 23, 2013

503 West Coast Jiu Jitsu will be closed Saturday, May 25, Sunday, May 26, and Monday, May 27, for Memorial Day Weekend.  Normal classes will resume Tuesday, May 28.

For Christmas week, we are closed Monday, December 24, through Wednesday, December 26.  We return to our regular schedule on Thursday, December 27.



For New Years week, we are closed Monday, December 31, 2012, through Wednesday, January 2, 2013.  We return to our regular schedule on Thursday, January 3.

​Thanksgiving Schedule​
November 18, 2012​



For Thanksgiving week 503 West Coast Jiu Jitsu will hold classes as usual on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday except for the 7:00 PM BJJ and 8:00 PM MMA classes.  Thursday we will be closed and Friday we will have an Open Gym from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM.  In addition, we will be closed on Saturday.  The normal schedule resumes on Sunday.

John Bartlett and Damion Martindale Sweep Rumble at the Roseland 62

March 11, 2012



John Bartlett fought a tough battle against Brysen French, finally submiting French in the third round with an armbar.  John successfully defended and retains his FCFF 185 lbs. title.  Congratulations John!

Damion Martindale captured an FCFF Superfight belt by defeating 6'9" Darron "Goliath" O'Donnell.  Damion literally picked Goliath up over his head, slammed him on the ground and choked him out.  Way to go Damion!







New Year's Holiday Schedule

503 West Coast Jiu Jitsu Cooking Contest Raises Money for Local Charity

On June 25th, 503WCJJ held a cooking contest that featured some great dishes, lots  of happy eaters and raised over $200 for MESO.

MESO (Micro Enterprise Services of Oregon) seeks to broaden economic opportunities for underserved entrepreneurs by providing business support to increase growth in income, assets, and business skills.







503 West Coast Jiu Jitsu Dominates Weekend Fight Scene

May 2, 2011



Last weekend as, described by gym owner Jason Pittman, "Five wins in two days!  Two titles, one Fight of the Night and two Friday night muggings!"



Ryan Truitt and Silas Davis both took home championship belts, and Ryan's wife, Nicole, in her very first fight, not only took home the win, but Fight of the Night honors, as well.

​

Jack Lumsden and Scotty Oleson started the weekend barage with two wins on Friday.

Way to go 503!







503 West Coast Jiu Jitsu at FCFF Caged on the Coast 4

March 25, 2011



Saturday, March 26, promises to be a big night for 503 West Coast Jiu Jitsu, as three 503WCJJ warriors step into FCFF's "The Slammer" at Caged on the Coast 4.



Silas Davis will be fighting Josh Hitsman at a catch weight of 195 pounds, which is sure to be a good bout.



John Bartlett will be taking on Corey Wyatt, who is the current USC Middleweight Champion, for the FCFF Middleweight Championship.



In addition, Justin Mark, the current FCFF Featherweight Champion, will be defending his title for the first time.  He was originally slated to fight Shamseddeen Moussaoui, but due to a medical condition Moussaoui had to withdraw at the last minute.  Fortunately, Kevin Keeney, co-owner of the FCFF, was able to pull out a last minute matchup with Tyler Hayes.

503 West Coast Jiu Jitsu 2 for 2 at Fight Night XVIII: Shamrocked

It wasn't the Luck of the Irish that allowed 503WCJJ to dominate on March 19, at Fight Night XVIII: Shamrocked, but rather the skill and determination of our two warriors.

Joaquin Rodriguez defeated Esteban Salazar and in the main event, Rico Martinez defeated Josh McPherson.







 

​Fight Night XVII: Joosed a Success for 503 West Coast Jiu Jitsu
March 12, 2011



It was a successful night for 503 West  Coast Jiu Jitsu at Fight Night XVII:  Joosed.



The night started off right with Jetay Barber defeating David Lewis by Rear Naked Choke in just 36 seconds of the first round.  Way to go Jetay!



The night culminated in the 205 pound championship fight between our very own Jason Pittman and Billy Zimmerman.  Jason pummeled Billy with a barage of strikes, prompting the ref to stop the fight at only 2:06 of the first round and declaring Jason the new 205 pound Champion due to TKO.

Greg Showard did awesome in his first ever MMA fight, winning in the first round by TKO over TJ Koehler.  Nice work Greg!

Upcoming 503WCJJ Fights

January 29, 2011



On Friday, February 4, Greg Showard from 503 West Coast Jiu Jitsu will have his very first cage fight.  Please join 503WCJJ members and fans as we cheer Greg on.



Greg will be fighting in NWC - 1 Armageddon at the Red Lion Vancouver at the Quay in the Centennial Center.  The fights start at 7:00 PM.



The very next night, Saturday, February 5, Justin Searcy will be representing 503 West Coast Jiu jitsu at Fight Night Contenders XV.  The fights will take place at Club Zoo in Vancouver, WA and start at 6:00 PM.

​Upcoming 503WCJJ Fights
January 10, 2011



On Saturday, January 15, our very own coach, Nick Braker, will be fighting in Rumble on the Ridge in Snoqualmie, WA, at the Snoqualmie Casino.  Show our coach your support by attending this event and cheering him on.



On the very next Saturday, January 22, we'll have three of our fighters competing at the Rumble at the Roseland 54, located in Downtown Portland at the Roseland Theater.

​

Damion Martindale, the current FCFF Heavyweight Champion, will take on the Light Heavyweight Champion in his attempt to be the first ever in FCFF history to hold belts in two different divisions simultaneously.  Also on the card are Rico Martinez and Clint Patterson!  This event is always a great one, and with three of our own fighting it's sure to be even more exciting.







503 West Coast Jiu Jitsu's One Year Anniversary Party a Smashing Success!

January 10, 2011



The one year anniversary party had an awesome turnout this year.  Fighters, coaches, friends and family showed up for the unprecedented turnout.



A fun portion of  the party, aside from the great food, was the award ceremony.  Awards were given out for things such as Most Improved Boxer, Most Improved Wrestler, Fighter of the Year and Coach of the Year, among others.



The highlight of the event was Brian Espinoza's BJJ seminar.  Brian is a master, not only of BJJ, but of instructing and conducting seminars.



Brian tailored the seminar to our MMA-style environment, demonstrating and teaching a number of effective BJJ moves that always kept in mind the context of the cage.



Thanks to Brian for making the trip up from California and making this a truly memorable event.

Special thanks also goes out to those that helped coordinate the event and supply the food and the heavy-hitter of the bunch, Liz Martinez.







 

​503 West Coast Jiu Jitsu Celebrates Its One Year Anniversary: Party January 8
December 12, 2010



Celebrating its one year anniversary, 503 West Coast Jiu Jitsu is inviting everyone to its very own birthday party on Saturday, January 8, 2011, from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM.



If you're a member, this is a great time to celebrate with your 503WCJJ family, and if you're a non-member, there is no better time to get to see the gym, meet the fighters and get to know the owner and coaches.



The festivities will include various types of delicious food, awards, fun for the kids and as a special treat, a two hour seminar by none other than West Coast Jiu Jitsu's Brian Espinoza from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM.

​

Practioners are sure to learn many new techniques during the seminar.  Pre-registration is required and the cost is only $40 - a bargain for two full hours of useful techniques that are sure to give participants an edge.
