Boxing for MMA
While pure boxing technique is always important, certain things translate to MMA better than others. At 503 West Coast Jiu Jitsu we feel it's important to teach efficient techniques for MMA.
In our Boxing for MMA class students learn basic fight stance, defensive techniques and how to throw various punches from a number of different angles - some that one wouldn't even normally find in standard Western Boxing. We also go over footwork and the importance of MMA range.
A normal class starts with a warm-up, progresses to semi-live drills and often ends with light sparring sessions.
We know that not everyone wants to spar, so sparring is always optional. All classes have a strong emphasis on ab work, as well.
