Bio:
Chris "Last Man" Standing has been training in martial arts since the age of seven. He started in Wrestling, moved to Western Boxing and eventually trained in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Muay Thai and MMA. Chris specializes in what he calls Thug-Jitsu, a form of ground fighting that incorporates Jiu Jitsu with effective striking techniques in close quarters combat.
Chris was also fortunate enough to train with MMA greats like Randy Couture, Dan Henderson, Evan Tanner, Ed Herman and Chris Leben.
Chris not only has bragging rights as a coach (check out his profile on the Coaches page), but is also quite accomplished as a combat participant. He went to the 1999 State Wrestling Championships, placed 3rd at the international Jiu Jitsu tournament Combat Athletics, holds a competitive BJJ record of 20-3-1, holds a Purple Belt in Gracie Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, held the 170 lbs. First Friday Fights Championship belt, holds a 100% success rate in defending his MMA title belts, has a 50% KO ratio in MMA, was a prior recipient of Submission of the Night and was a prior recipient of KO of the Night.
Chris likes to train and fight because he believes that combat is the truest way to test oneself and find one's inner strength. He finds that through training and competition in combat sports he tends to form strong bonds with those around him and a better respect for himself and his peers.
When asked who his favorite fighter is, Chris responded, "I respect any and every fighter that steps into the cage."
