Gustavo "The Beast" Bessa, or Gus as many of us know him, has been training in martial arts for 3 years, although he's been wrestling for many. Gus not only placed in various high-level wrestling tournaments in high school, including state, but has placed 2nd in the No-Gi Intermediate Division of the 2010 Oregon Open, 3rd place Intermediate Division of the 2011 Sub League Tournament, 4th place Absolute Division 2012 Split-Jitsu Tournament and 2nd place at the 2012 503 West Coast Jiu Jitsu Tournmament. He holds a Blue Belt under Diego Gamonal, who was the 2010 Pan American BJJ Champion.
Gus currently holds an undefeated record in MMA, the Split Decision 145 lbs. Championship belt and is a Lower Weight Classes Club Zoo Grand Prix Champion.
When asked why he likes to train and fight Gus replied, "I love competition, love being in shape and looking good. Plus, I needed a new hobby that actually might turn out as a career in a few years."
Gus' favorite MMA fighter is Marcos "Bicudinho" Maciel.
